Automotive Diagnostic code scanner?

Which brand of automotive Diagnostic code scanners works the best or is the best value. I would like to be able to pull the codes and if possible have the scanner run test on my truck to check for other possible problems.I can spend about 0.00. I have a 2002 Chevy Blazer LS 4.3L V6. I also have a 1989 Ford Ranger that isn’t running at this time but the Chevy is the one I’m interested in buying the tool for.

You can buy the actron mini scanner, it just gives the trouble codes-price $49-$59. You can buy the actron obd 2 scanner for $149. Or the super scanner, scans both obd 1 and obd 2 price for this one is $379.99. My personal favorite is the autoxray ez 5000 series it does both obd 1 and 2 for Ford, GM and Chrysler. It does all imports 1996 and up. The price for the auto x ray is $289. I would recommend it if you’re serious about doing your own repairs.

Check with some of the auto parts stores and see if they have a scanner they’ll let you use (or check the code for you).

My dad took his 2004 Dodge Ram to "Autozone" (parts store in Tennessee and elsewhere) and they did this for free…..presumably you’re going to buy the parts needed to fix it from them I suppose. Call all the parts stores you can find and ask them.

A rare 1970s-era Mercedes-Benz C111 show car has gone on display at the company’s museum at Brooklands, but it almost didn’t make it. According to reports from across The Pond, the truck transporting the vintage concept car from Germany to the UK was hijacked by criminals looking to make off with the C111. The attempt was thwarted, but though now repaired, significant damage was reportedly incurred to one of the showcar’s gullwing doors and to the front fender.
