I have a carrier thermostat and my mom locked it. How do I unlock it?
There are only four buttons on the thermostat, an up button a down button, a mode button and a fan button.

As you know, we all need air conditioning. We know that when our home gets too hot, we walk over to the thermostat and turn the air conditioner on. Or, we lower the temperature setting to turn the system on to cool our house.
But, what are you going to do if there is a problem? What if you walk over to the thermostat to turn the AC on and nothing happens? Would you know why? Do you even know where your air handler or the air condensing unit is even located? Would you even recognize what the evaporator is, or a condensor coil, or not know anything more other than there’s a square, tall box that sits outside that makes a lot of noise, blowing hot air out the top?
Well, don’t feel bad. Most homeowners know very little about their heating and cooling systems, in fact, less than any other major component of their homes. Hopefully, you know enough that you do change your air filter each month, know where and how to do it, and know how to use your thermostat. But really, how much more do you know about your HVAC system?
And by the way, what is HVAC? Well, that is an industry term for Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning. This is the business known as HVAC Mechanical Contractors.
Now, if you are reading this website, more than likely you are having a problem with your air conditioner, or you may need it replaced. And herein lies the problem. The fact that you know very little about how your air conditioner or heat pump works is precisely why you could get overcharged for any repairs, and you will almost positively pay too much for a new central air conditioning/heating system installed in your home.
