Volkswagen 1.8l turbo engine sludge problem?

I just bought a 05 GTI with the 1.8 turbo. I have heard that the Passats and the Audi A4's with this engine can suffer from a sludge problem however the GTI's are not affected. How is this possible? They are the same engines.

The 1.8 motors are all the same with some minor changes around the base, ecu and breather systems to accommodate the particular model. Sludge is a common problem with junk oil like penzoil and quakerstate. If you are worried about it then run some seafoam
